Lá Fhéile Pádraig

A very happy Paddy's Day to you all.
We went off to Ballydehob to watch the parade and take in the craic. It's wonderful - everyone dressed/painted in orange, white and gold, shamrocks adorning lapels and hats. The parade is unpretentious and fun - St Patrick leading of course, followed by fine array of vintage tractors, ponies and traps, the Irish Coast guards, the fire Brigade, a lot of chaps in orange beards and big hats, a very handsome mature gent in a green kilt, a sprinkling of Father Teds and Mrs' Doyle, a huge papier mache serpent with the pre school kids underneath it, a mini Brian O Driscoll in a mohican wig in Irish colours, more vintage tractors, and the local school children all dressed up circa 1914. A band played in an old trailer and it started to drizzle! This parade now packs up smartish and heads off to Schull for round two. This is one of my ex-pupils looking delightful.

And a bit of suitable music
