Old school

A detail in the old main building of a school of agriculture here in Puhos. There's a tiny campus in cozy surroundings.

Until this fall North Karelia University of Applied Sciences had an office there. In other words, you could get a Bachelor's Degree in my home village of 400 people. I studied in one such Degree Programme, Environmental Technology, but we stayed for only two years here in Puhos and the rest of the studies took place in the region capital Joensuu. I first met my pal Hevosmies as we were both studying in the same programme in Puhos. Now the whole programme as well as the other higher education Degree Programme takes place in Joensuu completely. There's only secondary education here in Puhos now.

Edit: Oh, and the old main building is closed due to mold damage.
