Three Weeks Deep

Sorry about this. This is the one day where I didn't pick up my camera, except to take a quick ridiculous shot before going out. I tried to Photoshop the photo to save it, but no good really...

All the UMU people are slowly integrating to life here. There’s our boys Kowse and Sadler, plus a bunch of other familiars. I had the misfortune of finally meeting funny man Jayesh. Just kidding, I love that guy. With him around now, the ping pong tables are even more rowdy and around the world has reached new extremes of competitiveness.
We spent most of today in “lectures” from Terry and Jonty, the other two module runners. Luckily, we managed to escape for lunch to a nearby new place called Maxi Snacks, fully aware that Terry and Jonty wouldn’t be aware of the excruciatingly long periods of time you have to wait for food here in Fort. As such, I think we were about an hour late coming back!

So apart from briefings and some engaging lectures about micro-hydropower, we decided to go out again of course! The only obstacle: a 4-hour lecture from Colin on everything from hydro to the meaning of life mixed with politics and other random topics. After two hours, we broke off for dinner and beers. We decided to attend the rest of the lecture beers in hand. Innovative pre-drinking. By the time we finished, everyone was bumping to go out. After some ping pong, I grabbed a boda with Hannah and Prabh and we made our way to Don’s Plaza for a night of Bond 7. The drink is really growing on everybody! Fort is really quite pleasant when you learn to enjoy the little things and little places. This was an awesome night with all the friends, the kind I’m gonna miss. When we got back, there was a very angry chinese man screaming in the corridor about the noise. We weren’t even sorry…

peace
