Yellow Eyed Penguin during moult
We went to Moeraki for a NPS week end trip and saw the Yellow Eyed Penguins near the Moeraki light house peninsula. There were 3 in the grass near the walkway, so could get great shots. They go through the moult to get
water proof feathers. As you can see the new feathers are more tightly compact. good for swimming in the sea. The penguins stay on land until the moult is complete.
