El tapís

This hanging, consisting of knitted, crocheted and embroidered squares, is the result of a project by the village Associació de Dones to mark International Women's Day, although it ended up being a week late!

At one stage in the preparation there were three of us working to sew the squares together and two of us were foreigners. The three other women present, all Catalans, stood and chatted... However, it was eventually finished and was suspended from the Ajuntament balcony for the afternoon and I understand that it will then be moved inside to hang on a wall. A walk was organised to mark the day and this was taken when we had just arrived back in the village.
