Thanksgiving.
Celebrating holidays in different countries was something The Goose and I weren't quite sure how we would handle. Especially being away from our family and familiar friends.
Thanksgiving. A time for giving thanks, spending time with important people, and eating great food.
Here in China, and especially in our district of Shenzhen, we anticipated a very different experience this year. Would we have turkey and mashed potatoes this year, or noodles and bok choy?
Luckily, we have made some great friends here in China, and the first major holiday for us just passed, and we still have smiles on our faces. We even had turkey, fake turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, stuffing balls, green bean casserole, rolls, candied yams, gravy, corn, canned cranberry, banana bread, cookies , pumpkin, and apple pie.
All this in CHINA! We are thankful for the hard to find ex-pat friendly grocery stores. We even found a Sam's club that provided a cooked turkey, not to mention we were able to watch a few pro-football and college football games on our computers.
Most importantly, we are thankful for the new friends that we have made, and the family and friends in other countries and cities. We miss you and cherish dearly.
