Mells Manor - the "plum"

Mells Manor is supposedly the 'plum' that Little Jack Horner pulled from the pie in the nursery. It belongs to the Earl of Oxford and Asquith.

Mells in Somerset is well known for its wonderful display of daffodils. Sadly, this year's Daffodil Festival, traditionally held each Easter, has been cancelled because the fields used for parking are waterlogged. The festival isn't the only casualty of this winter's weather.

Off to see The Pretty Things this evening, who are in Frome as part of their 50th anniversary tour. This is the band that, in their day, made the Stones look neat and tidy! They were banned from New Zealand in the 1960s but have since been let back in. David Bowie covered two of their songs on his album Pin Ups.
