Camel Heard??
I don't think he had!
Weekend and very quiet so we did a visa run to the Hatta border.
Thunderstorms and rain forecast from three o'clock onwards so was promising to be a somewhat different day to the last time we ran the gauntlet with the Dubai Cycle Racers!!
En route we encountered this cute little spectacle!! He was a bit wobbly on his legs, obviously only hours old but raring to catch up with a couple of older playmates who were up ahead. Mum was looking anxious because they were not far off the road and traffic here is so unaware of its surroundings, I don't think he would have had much of a chance.
Mum has her legs tied too, a precaution to stop her going too far in a day so the herder cannot locate her!
An interesting insight.......
.......the white or chequered headress worn by the Arabs is held in place by a rope accesory called an 'agal' which originally was the rope used to tie the camels legs. When the camels were loosed...the herder just put the 'agal' on top of his head over his 'ghuttrah' for safe keeping and want of a better place to put it!
It later became a fashion statement and is now produced in various lengths, styles and weight of cords, complete with braided tassels!
Just thought I'd add that deep and meaningful story!
Happy Blipping Everyone
