Record Breakers

This appears to be a trip of records, positive records so far and i hope the negative ones will pass our position with a CPA of 200 n.m. (at least). Last week the Thialf broke the topside weight record for the Gulf of Mexico (9080 mT), yesterday we broke the single tug speed record towing the Thialf (12,9 knots with an average for the day of 11,0 knots) and right now we are towing with a record breaking length of tow wire out of 1560 meter. As you can see, we still have some more wire to pay out, but actually it was not my intention to break this record, but to grease the bottom layer of wire. That is done now and it is very tempting to break our own record again, but then the precious applied layer of grease will be flushed with salt water and that is not a wise move to do. In all the years i work on tugs, i never saw our tow so far away. It is a nice view and also a safety precaution for the nasty weather our path may cross to Europe.
