Ready for Harvest
The grapes are being taken off the vines in many parts of Marlborough. I drove to Gateway Vineyard today with the intention of photographing some of the ready to harvest grapes while I walked the dogs. Alas the harvester had been through, two weeks earlier than last year. I met the vineyard owner and he directed me to another part of the vineyards where 20 rows of vines were as yet unharvested. Out came the camera and I had a good feed whilst capturing a few images. These are Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Look out for Villa Maria 2014 in the future.
Gyspy, the dog is partial to a feed of grapes. When she starts wanting to eat them I know that the sugar levels in the grapes are just about right for harvest.
