Sometimes you're the Heron, sometimes the Frog

(view large to get the title) - I took some much much better shots today of a Thrush sunbathing, a Coal Tit singing, and a couple of sunset pics from the top of Calton Hill (trying to include the half dozen or more tripodded photographers up there crowding out the tourists).

But today I felt like that Frog. Funny how you can be expecting certain news, so when it comes it's no surprise at all (in fact I ranted about it here last week, before deleting all the references to work an hour or two later), and yet still has the capacity to completely and utterly hack you off and make you feel like all of your efforts are for naught, all the while wrapped up in 'well hopefully it'll act as an incentive to improve for next year' despite the fact that improving ridiculously in the last 6 months (not in the least by playing the game just so what I'm doing is actually more visible) has resulted in no recognition whatsoever, just an 'my hands are tied' type response.

*croak*

Ah well, who knows what's round the next corner...
