Muckshroom
I am home again after a taxing few days in London.
The sun shone and I got down to some much needed outdoor exercise: I sawed up the old five-bar gate, cut away huge clumps of ivy from the lilac bush and cleaned out the hen house. In the process of which I noticed this curious fungus, known as the common dung cup, Peziza vesiculosa, from its habit of growing in muck heaps and barn yards. The cup-like structure has folded over into tubes and rolls - not a very pretty sight.
The first lamb has appeared in the next field, primroses are out in the lane and wild garlic has sprung up sufficiently to be picked and added to the evening's risotto. And that was as far as I went.
