Broken

Plugged my Kindle in to charge last night, the battery was almost gone, and left it be on the bedside table to do its thing. This is what I found in the morning - three quarters of the screen is illegible, and I was distraught!

"There must be a way to fix it", I thought, "I'll ring Amazon, they'll know what to do". They ring you back, you know, Amazon. Nice people.

We tried a hard reset, no joy. "Press the Menu button," he said, "and scroll down to Settings". I pressed the Menu button, and almost wailed down the phone to him, "I can't see the menu to scroll down!".

He paused, and said in a low tone of voice, "We can't fix it, Lisa, it's gone".

He very kindly offered me a discount on a refurbished Kindle - though not the keyboard model as they don't produce it any more - but I don't have the heart just yet...
