Glabrous
gla·brous
[gley-bruhs]
adjective Zoology, Botany .
having a surface devoid of hair.
My poor little Sally was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia at the beginning of October. Since that time, she has been bombarded with all manner of toxic chemicals and steroids in an effort to beat this wretched disease into submission.
Before she became ill, she had a thick, wiry coat. Now most of that hair has fallen out, leaving her entire tummy completely bald, and looking rather like the body of a newborn mouse. The rest of her is covered only with a very thin, scant crop of fine black hairs, which threaten to abandon her in the near future. The only place that still looks relatively like the good old days is her head, which still proudly sports its bushy eyebrows and splendid beard. We think we will start telling people she is a rare breed known as the Bavarian Crested.
