Rhubarb
After the awful rain of the weekend I knew the soil would be ready to turn over.
The chance to escape to the allotment was welcome. Butter beans planted, branches chopped, soil dug over and beds cleared. It was a perfect distraction and that little flask of tea tasted all the sweeter for the hard work.
The rhubarb grows in miniature form and slowly gets larger and larger, yet just now it is perfectly formed and full of rich vibrant red, but it is the textures just now that take my eye- all crinkle and folded up looking like it needs a good iron!
