Glenfinnan Trees

Wow what a day we've had today. First of all I watched an Otter from our cottage lounge window at breakfast time. He was bobbing about in the water, and then he briefly came ashore, but not in a great position for photos, and then we saw a seal too.

After breakfast we hit the road to the isles, and headed to Glenfinnan. We looked at the monument and I took some pictures of Loch Shiel (including this one), which seemed very calm, and there was a dusting of snow on some of the mountain tops. We then took a walk into the woods along a boardwalk. We spotted a Heron in a pool so we stopped to watch it, but as we were stopping we startled two Red Deer who were in some trees slightly higher up the slope, so I didn't get to photograph them.

On the way back along the boardwalk we saw a Frog swimming in a pool. Later as we walked to get a view of Glenfinnan Viaduct we saw a Frog on the path, so I got down low and photographed him.

After Glenfinnan, we carried on towards Arisaig where we took the old coast road, and parked at Camusdarach and walked down to the beach. It was an amazing place, a wide open white sandy beach with views across to Rum Eigg and Muck, mountains topped with snow, and nobody else on the beach. Oh and it was really warm and sunny. As we were walking back along the beach a lady with a little white scotty dog came down to the beach. The dog started to chase after a crow, and the dog would not give up, even chasing up the sand dunes to try to get the crow. Sadly the scotty dog couldn't fly, and the crow finally got away.

We travelled back via Arisaig and then called at Corpach to get a couple shots of Ben Nevis with snow, sunshine and a half moon.

It has been a brilliant day, with some lovely photo opportunities, some wonderful wildlife sightings and gorgeous weather. I'm now about to pop outside to try and grab a star shot as it doesn't look too cloudy this evening. I'll be getting up early tomorrow for 'Otter Watch'. Perhaps I might get a photo tomorrow.
