Drying
The cormorant isn't as sharp as it should be but the light wasn't good so the ISO was higher than I wanted and the the shutter speed lower than it needed to be, using this 300mm lens at its optimum hand-held. The only way I can compensate for the D200's low light inadequacies is to use the tripod and there's no way this bird would have waited for that, even had I lugged it along. I'm not feeling too kindly disposed to feathered fish-eaters just now as a heron has been raiding our pond again. The tell-tale oil slick was there on the pond surface this morning so we've put netting over - too late for some.
My "Lennie", altocumulus lenticularis, photographed in the Borders last week has made the BBC Weather page. Fame at last!
