Durisdeer Hills

Sarah was talking at Wallace Hall today so we decided to go walking afterwards in the Durisdeer Hills.

Starting at Durisdeer village, we walked up the path which follows the line of a Roman Road, past a small fortlet. The road was also used in medieval times on the Pilgrim route to Whithorn. At the shed in the photo we turned left up Well Hill, which is extremely steep, and then onto Black Hill.

We watched the sheep being brought down from the hills for lambing by two shepherds and their dogs. The views were stupendous and the weather Spring like. Skylarks were singing above us. What a treat :-)
