A trip to Shrewsbury

I have an old digital piano that I play in two bands. It has a lovely sound but has been repaired and is a bit the worse for wear. I went to the big music shop in Shrewsbury to look into a replacement which was more problematic than I expected. Pianos with a good sound were too heavy for me to carry around but the lighter ones sounded tinny. I'm considering buying a small (and cheap) one which would go in the boot of the car and I could also take it to music sessions in pubs as there's never room for a full size one. I could also take it to gigs in case the big one lets me down. Decisions Decisions!

While in Shrewsbury I took a shot of the Old Market Hall in The Square. It's a beautiful building dating from 1596 and was the corn exchange.Wool and cloth were sold on the top floor and grain on the lower one, post holes for fleeces are still there. There was a ducking pool in front which was used for dipping nagging wives and dishonest traders. It has also been a place for cavalry sword instruction, magistrate's court, air-raid shelter and housed a travelling crocodile exhibition! It's now a cafe and arts venue.
