Glory is fleeting

Early Friday - before the pain!

Thought it would be another quiet stay at home day - so took this picture in the morning (in response to my blip alarm) before the day's drama unfolded.

But around 12.15 I started to experience this most awful pains in my tummy - almost identical to that I had with the gall bladder so very, very bad! .
I had the phone in my hand to call the doctor when luckily Tricia phoned me to see how I was getting on. She immediately realised I was in a bad way so called the doctor for me and drove round to the house to hold my hand!
She arrived as doctor was phoning me back to see what the matter was.

Apparently they pump you full of air when you have keyhole surgery so they can see what they're doing/move instruments around. After the op that air gradually disapates - sometimes ending up at the top of the body giving you shoulder pain. Doc reckoned that even though it was a week afterward the Op, the pain was probably the air moving.

The tummy pain eventually subsided but I was then left with great pain in my neck/shoulders which is where they reckon the air had moved to - so on doctor's advice I took a Tramadol tablet (a strong painkiller I'd been given on discharge from hospital but not had cause to use until now). Also jumped in a taxi so that the doc could double-check me and make sure nothing else going on.

Doctor gave me the all clear at the surgery, but , unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the Tramadol I'd taken and spent the rest of the day/night throwing up.

I eventually stopped being sick at 2am saturday morning.

I can't thank Trish enough for looking after me during all of this. The whole experience was bad enough, but would have been 10 times worse had I been on my own.

Anyway - good job I got the blip early on!
