World Press Photography Awards

I went to have a look at the exhibition of the winning photos that was at the Raffles Hotel. Some very powerful photos on show.

Not the best presentation, because the exhibition was mounted in one of the open foyers of the hotel, so there was only natural light coming into the space and some of the panels were in the shadows and some in bright light. It was quite well attended, there was a group of women (don't know why but all 5 were fairly heavily pregnant! - this photo shows 3 of them) and a large group of teenage photography students all wielding sizeable Canon dSLRs and dancing about the foyer.

Before I got there I fortified myself with a classic Singapore staple lunch of chicken rice. And after looking at the press photos I went to take a look at the Elliot Erwitt exhibition at the Leica Gallery that's also in the Raffles Hotel. A good day.
