ANOTHER DUCK

I named this guy cappie about ten years ago. then he was a little ducky that had a black cap. His father had been dubbed Grandpa Ugly by the older couple that lived next door to where I built our home. They told me that they knew that Grandpa Ugly was at least fourteen years old then. He roamed the creek wild. He was a Muscovy duck, domestic breed.
A neighbor down stream bought four female ducks at the auction, and they came upstream and met Grandpa Ugly. It was Spring, and he had not seen a Muscovy hen in a long time. The first hen to hatch out her eggs had twelve ducklings. Cappie was one of them. They grew up and the neighbor down stream gathered them all up, and took them all to a pond in the country where his friend lived.
Cappie and some of his sibs made their way back after a few months. Cappie is the only one that survived. He is at least twelve years old now. He roams and rules the creek now. His father died about eight years ago. Cappie spends most of the summer in the park up stream, where people feed him, but every evening about six pm he flies down stream like a bomber!
