Painting with Light

The client signed off on the job and the rest of the morning was spent uploading finished artwork to the printer's online print production system (Kodak InSite, a bit of a Java-driven dog). There were several frustrating glitches which resulted in two abortive upload attempts and meant that I eventually had to upload pages individual in several batches. The whole process didn't finish until 1.30. God be with the days when a physical CD/DVD would change hands and the printer would produce actual hard-copy proofs for pre-print approval. Now it's all done without human intervention. I'm as tech-savvy as the best of them, but I really can't say I'm happy with this printer's total reliance on this system.

Anyway, the remote wizardry did its automated thing and almost instantly spat out virtual proofs for approval. The client was as good as her word, and we eventually ended up with final approval almost 24 hours in advance of the printer's deadline. Way-hay!

During one of the upload sessions I happened to spot bursts of sunlight coming in through the window and shining onto the wall through a large glass vase. I grabbed tripod and camera and shot off a few. This is what happened when they were overlaid and subjected to a bit of post-processing.

The rest of the day was spent as lazily as possible.
