Islamic Vision
This is the installation of the Ardabil Carpet at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London's venerable institution for art and design. It is "one of the largest and finest Islamic carpets in existence ... [and] of great historical importance," completed in 1540 in Iran. The museum's superb Islamic collection is wonderfully displayed around this area.
We also enjoyed seeing the installation of works by ten artists who were finalists for the Jameel Prize--which is awarded every two years contemporary works inspired by Islam.
I have to confess that we cut our visit a bit short, and headed back to our hotel to watch England play Wales in the Six Nations Rugby championship; England won, 29-18.
