Castlerigg Stone Circle

This is where we started and finished our walk today. We headed away from here and up to the St John's in the Vale church then across to Tewet Tarn, before returning to the stone circle.

We had some beautiful weather and great views across to Skiddaw and Blencathra.

This ancient monument isn't easy to photograph, as it's very rare to have the place to yourself. There were one or two other people behind some of the stones here - I just waited patiently for the right moment...

The hills behind the stones are (from left to right) Latrigg, Skiddaw and part of Blencathra. All of which I have climbed at some point on my many visits to Keswick in the Lake District.

It was great to see them from a different perspective.

When we got back to Keswick we had a coffee in one of the cafes. It was in there that we noticed Kirsty Wark and Sally Magnusson having a coffee too.

We realised they must have been part of the Words by the Water Festival that is being held at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. So we headed along to the theatre to see what was on.

The next available talk was Kirsty Wark interviewing Sally Magnusson's about the book she had written about her's mother's dementia. So we decided to go and see it. It has some meaning to myself and my other half as we both have parents with different types of dementia. It was interesting to hear about very similar episodes, events and emotions that Sally herself had experienced.
