Roman explorers

Housesteads is the largest fort on Hadrian's Wall. It's a steep half mile climb from the car park but well worth the walk. The girls really enjoyed exploring the different rooms and Grace read all the information panels. To make the most of the day (and our English Heritage memberships!) we stopped off at Chester's Roman fort too, on the way to Hexham for the grocery shopping. It's great to have these amazing historical sites within minutes of home.
