Walkern Alpacas
A landscape for my blip today and a true story. If you drive to Stevenage from Walkern and stop at the top of the hill and look back, this is what you will see. The farm has three lovely alpacas that graze in their field. A black one, a brown one and a white one. A treat to see.
I had to pick up from that farm once in my taxi. The family weren't quite ready so I wandered around and walked to the alpaca field. I clicked my tongue at them as you do and was quite alarmed when they suddenly turned and galloped flat out towards me.
I am guessing that whoever feeds them clicks their tongue in a similar way. Luckily, they realised their mistake before they cannoned into the fence as they screeched to a halt and just scowled at me as only a hungry alpaca can. They looked as if they could spit and made me feel incredibly guilty. I was also relieved that I didn't have to tell the family that I had injured all of their alpacas.
The moral of this little tale is "Never click your tongue at an alpaca unless you have food in your hand."
