Happy International Women's Day!
What a lovely Saturday we had! After a few errands we headed off to my favourite coffee shop for their veggie breakfast - heaven! I thought I might have my blip when I noticed this lovely scene and thought it might go nicely with my theme of father and child. I then decided today, International Women's Day, need a more feminist blip. After all, I am an International Woman and these things must be celebrated!
I hoped to find my blip at a demo to stand in solidarity with the women in Spain because of new abortion laws recently passed. Then I saw another international woman rugby fan and thought that might be it. I later joined Dr T (second from the left) at a demo at Lush Spa to encourage people to sign a petition against Page Three in The Sun and knew I had my blip.
Later on we went to see Dallas Buyer's Club at The Cameo and could see why the lead and supporting lead both won Oscars. Mind you, I don't know how people make these choices because there have been so many good films in the last year, many which haven't been nominated.
On the way home, we caught our normal bus to take us back to Portobello. For those of you unfamiliar with Edinburgh bus routes, the 26 also goes past Murrayfield, the scene of today's Six Nations match of Scotland v. France. The bus was heaving with fans from both sides, all in good form. We made our way upstairs (as you do) and happened to sit across the aisle from a piper who had been at the match and who was still playing. It was fantastic! At one point he asked for requests and someone said 'do you know anything by the Arctic Monkeys?' so naturally he played Flower of Scotland, followed by Scotland the Brave. I got a little video of it and posted it on FB.
What a day! Happy International Women's Day, fellow blippers!
