Highland Sojourn
An afternoon and night of rain here in Perthshire has left the rivers Tay and Tummel in spate with many adjoining fields under water. I feel sorry for the farmers with waterlogged crops and the poor sheep who seem to be buckling under the weight of their sodden fleeces.
We entertained ourselves today by having coffee in Dunkeld and then visiting the Cathedral. The sun shone on this part of the morning and the countryside was beautiful in a wintry kind of way. There were tourists about, but not on the scale that there is in the summer.
As we left Dunkeld, the clouds appeared and we arrived at that emporium of middle class taste- The House of Bruar- just as the heavens opened. We lingered over lunch and a browse round the various departments , and when the sun returned we decided to return back to the Perthsire abode via Aberfeldy. It is always surprising at this time of year how quickly it gets dark, and that combined with the ever increasing showers meant the car lights were on by 3pm. It was a lovely day out and the countryside in Perthshire is so beautiful that I filled my camera with images. The one I have chosen for today's blip is a view south towards Pitlochry taken from Bruar, showing the mist lingering over the hills
