The journey from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh this morning took on a continental flavour when a party of French rugby fans from Lyon filled the nearby seats.

The Scotrail conductor joined in the spirit of the occasion by addressing them in perfect French.

I did my bit to assist their navigation in Edinburgh. The irony was I had arranged a pre-match lunch in a French restaurant while they left me in search of a lunchtime haggis.

Be pleased to learn the Entente Cordiale is alive and well!

And the result, well they got it right but by a narrower margin than expected.
