Book shopping, party, playing outside, doctors
Busy day today. First up we went to the city. Jeff had an optician appointment. While he was there, we went to Waterstones. Elizabeth had a £1 book voucher to spend, so we ended up spending £10!
She took ages to find a book she wanted. She loves books and being read to. But today she just wanted more "little books". She loves little things. Most of the ones we already have are a bit rubbish and don't really tell a story or do anything useful. But this set are actually really good. It's an Axel Scheffler Pocket Library. It has lovely poems in them. I was able to get Elizabeth to guess the rhyming words.
Rebecca got a Big Dinosaur book. She had a lot of fun reading it at bedtime to herself. But she wouldn't let me read it to her. It has lovely pictures in it and lots of Dinosaurs.
After the city we went to the grandparent's house for a little party. It was for grandad and uncle Jeremy's birthday. The blip comes from the party.
Rebecca got a case of the shys. It's a shame when she is shy because she has a cracking personality and it doesn't come out. Instead she follows Elizabeth around and copies a lot of the things she does. So people don't what an independent (and stubborn) little spirit she has and how, in fact, it's often the case that Elizabeth is the one following her around. Oh well.
Back at home the girls played outside for about 2 hours. I love the mild weather!
Then when it got dark they came in and played with the doctor kit. Rebecca was the doctor and Elizabeth reviewed her work by asking us how our appointment had gone and if we were happy with everything.
Great day.
