Bearing up

I find it incredible that the whole of the bridge sits on a few simple bearings like this, that all of the colossal eight of the bridge - including several cars carried on the gondola when it's working - is transferred through these simple supports. A miracle of engineering!

Collected Dad at 8.15 to take him to the Gwent for his transfusion, fortunately left on time and arrived reasonably early because the barrier was down on the car park so had to drop him off and go in search of car parking on the hill nearby. Stayed for consultation with the doctor so was a bit later than planned leaving.

Back home in time to meet Building Control officer to check on progress on the studio; he was happy so I had a few minutes to myself to catch up on emails - looks like some work for next week.

Left in time to meet J for lunch, he wanted to treat me in return for my input to help with his computer issues. Didn't go too far today as I have to get back to the hospital to collect Dad at 3pm. That gave us a couple of hours for a catch up over lunch, also time to stop off at his place afterwards to pick up a DK city guide to Lisbon for holiday later on.

Had a few minutes spare after disposing of some DIY waste to go in search of a few photos for today. Weather quite clear and occasionally sunny so I headed for the Transporter Bridge. Haven't visited for quite some time so it seemed like a good opportunity while I was in the area. Grabbed a few shots, mostly details as I was on the "wrong" side of the river for any general shots of the bridge against the sky.

Headed back to collect Dad and arrived on time [for me!, only 2 minutes past the allotted 3pm pick-up time]. Drove him back home via the surgery to arrange the next appointment; stayed for a quick chat before getting home.

Needed a catch up Meditation to catch my breath. Great way of creating space in an otherwise busy day.

Plenty of time to relax before heading out to the club for an evening out with P, to wind down after a full day.
