Beets....
It's a day of domesticity for me! laundry done, and now i'm into making soup! We grow loads of wonderful vegetables, and beets are one of our favorites. There are 2 feed bags half full of beets in the root cellar, along with bags of turnips, potatoes and carrots. No matter how often we eat the veggies, there comes a time when i notice that they start to go rotten.... the beets especially, start to go a bit soft and if we don't eat them basically every day, we loose them. This breaks my heart....we put a lot of time and energy into the garden (mostly Terry, Richard and the WWoofers) so i am making a very huge batch of beet borscht.....we'll eat some today but then i'm going to freeze it in containers - and just hope that i remember in a few months time!!
another cabin to prepare today...this time i have 3 beds to make up!!!
But the good news is it is +5 out there today....i think it's the first day for months that it's been above freezing...yahooo~!
