To mark the restoration of the 12th Nelson Regiment emblem, emblazoned in stone on a hillside above the village of Tapawera, Nelson, NZ.

- Today, the dedication ceremony took place on the once tented fields below the hillside.
- Biannual military training camps were held between 1900 and 1940.
- These training camps were used by various regional volunteer units from 1900 until 1911 when the volunteer units were united as a territorial force.
The men in THIS PHOTO are demonstrating military weapons used through the ages in NZ.
It was a very hot, sunny day - as can be seen by the very dry grass, rain is needed.
