Surreal!
There's no other word for it. The river has been frozen over for weeks and weeks, and not frozen over smoothly so you could walk on it, but with blocks, chunks, and slabs of ice, pushing against each other and piling up like frozen building blocks. No one would ever want to build anything with them, but they are fascinating to look at, and hundreds of people have driven to the park just to walk out on the pedestrian bridge for a close up look at one of the forces of nature. If you compare this to yesterday's blip, you will see that the river, although frozen, changes from day-to-day.
FRIDAY FACES: If you follow my journal regularly, you know that I post at least one face every Friday. It's a great project because I get to meet lots of people. Since starting this project in early December, I have only been refused a photo op by one person (and I hope that by saying that, I haven't unleashed a chain of refusals)! Today was a good day because three people, Kami, Jason, and Dan, said yes to my request. And all three had their dogs with them. Their "faces" are posted in my Friday Faces gallery today. Please take a look at them. And, if you're a dog lover (as I am), you can see each one with his or her dog in my Dogs and their People gallery. Whew! It has taken forever to sort all these pictures out tonight, but I'm almost done. Just two more! The screech owl that lives in the bog and, to put a proper end to the day, a sunset. I rarely photograph sunsets, but tonight I was lucky to catch the sun setting behind the power towers. You can see it here.
If you've gotten this far in this long journal entry, thanks for sticking with me. I hope you are having a great weekend with lots of good blipping.
