NIMBY?

I had an errand down in Fairhaven this morning, and afterwards I decided to go Post Point Lagoon to look for a blip. It's next to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and the off-leash dog park where we used to take Jack and Annie. I hadn't been there since Annie left us over a year ago.

I knew that the WWTP was being expanded to keep up with increased demand, but I was surprised by the amount of construction. The project has been planned to minimize the impact on the adjacent habitat of the lagoon and a large heron nesting colony -- construction was halted during the heron nesting season.

The purpose of the plant is not obvious from its appearance, and there is rarely any odor, so it's not as unwelcome a presence as one might expect -- and it has to be located somewhere!
