Cactus Bud Dance

Since it is now meteorological Spring, it's time for the ritual of the Grizzly prickly pear bud dance.

These pineapple shaped growths will eventually close up and form the buds that will, typically, in very late March or early April, produce the delicate pink flowers I have come to love... and will blip incessantly for a month or more.

Because of the remarkably warm winter, I expect that I may see flowers "pop" as early as the end of February. So I will feign surprise if they do.

They would for sure if I was able to carry a water can full of food to feed the dang cactus this spring. I would see a bunch of stalks on my red yucca. I don't see any signs of growth right now, which is really disappointing because they attract hummers and butterflies.

Hopefully, the other cactus will be late bloomers when they get more of the Spring and Summer sun!!

I am doing better, though I seem to have hit a pain plateau that I can't shake. I am going out to drive this afternoon (Thursday...a little behind in posting my blips) to go out with mom. I can turn my head about 75 degrees to the right and 45 to the left. I haven't seen anyone in several days, so it will be good to get out of the house.
