A Methodist in the Cathedral.
After buying our fish from Newlyn. (Pollock this time)
We decided to have an afternoon in Truro.
Believe it or not , we have never been to the city before, although driven through many times.
A lovely city, which reminds me of York.
However the Cathedral is not as old as we thought.
Only built by the Victorians.
The foundation stone was laid by HRH Prince of Wales in 1880. Consecrated in 1887, and finally completed in 1910.
Some beautiful stained glass, and one window in particular surprised me.
It depicts John Wesley preaching to thousands of miners at Gwennap Pit, Cornwall.
Along with his brother Charles, they founded the Methodist Church, and as I was brought up a Methodist, it was lovely to see this window dedicated to him in an Anglican Cathedral.
I'm so glad we decided to visit this town on what has been a dull and drizzly day!
