One to check off the bucket list.

Booked this helicopter flight a week in advance, and after rain all day yesterday and strong winds, this turned out to be the best-visibility day of the year.

But for your first time in a helicopter, running with the doors off for photography, wow those winds made the flight terrifying and exhilarating at the same time.

Of course, our pilot was a super experienced former Japan Air Self Defense Force pilot who exuded calm and confidence. All the same, I basically white-knuckled it and kept shooting. But having done it once in these conditions, I have absolutely zero qualms about going up again.
