A Redback
We only see the occasional Redback spider but this year we have seen a number. Where this one was located made it hard to get at so it is not quite as clear as I would have liked. The interesting thing was that it has taken a liking to eating skinks. At the top of the imsage is a skink's tail.
The Redback is responsible for most of our venomous spider bites but an antivenom has been available since 1956. The bite is apparently very painful and makes the victim quite ill.
I understand some have been exported to New Zealand!
