In the Deep South of Thailand

Some of you may know that there is a violent conflict going on in the three Southernmost provinces of Thailand, namely in Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Since 2004 over 3500 people have died in insurgency. The situation in the region is very complex. I visited Yala and Pattani for work. The picture is taken from the 8th floor of the CS Pattani Hotel in Pattani.
