Times they are a changing.....

We live in the oldest street in Pickering which leads up to the castle. Our house is Georgian and Grade 2 listed and many of the other buildings are of a similar vintage. That is with the exception of the cinema. It has survived in various guises over the years and my three boys enjoyed visiting both the cinema and Fun Factory.

However, it has been closed for several years and changed hands through various developers. All that seemed to happen was that it provided a roost for a flock of pigeons as it fell into disrepair.

Over the past few weeks the interior has been gutted and preparations are underway for demolition. In its place we will see two stone fronted properties. Which will better reflect the residential nature of the street. We may even get a better view of the spire of the church which you can just see peeping over the roof line.
