Jettygirl's Jetty 2014 (1)

Voices nearby are muttering, "What a horrible day!" I take another look around me to try to find the 'horrible' aspect. No! Can't find it. It's a soft, wet day, grey-blue in colour, so there are raindrops on crocuses, daffs, tulip leaves and new leafy growth everywhere. It smells wonderful. The sounds are glorious: the swish of the breakers on the jetty; the splash through puddles of a passing bus; voices of people calling to each other as they bustle from village shop to newsagent. When we stop for coffee, the Coffee Pot has had a refurb.: two new panoramic windows completely change the place because so much more light streams in.

After the first jettyblip of 2014, back to the cottage to don old waterproofs, gardening gloves and wellies, then an hour in the soft rain, planting new hollyhocks, lupins , poppies and delphiniums all for the delight of our slugs, no doubt.

Throughout all this I was dressed like a scarecrow and had on no eye make -up! Yet the world kept turning. Wow! I am reading a great little book called How to Age by Ann Karpf in the School of Life series. Nothing revolutionary; just what so many of us are learning day by day.
