The road through the woods

A quick walk in the middle of the day, just as the weather took a turn for the better. Yesterday was such a brilliantly blue, sunny occasion that I took this morning's rain very badly, and rejoiced to see the sunlight through the trees on this, a walk usually saved for dreary days. Though we have not suffered from the flooding and destruction of the south this winter, it has been a miserable one with hardly any sunny days and a dearth of frosty mornings. As the countryside begins to turn green again, I can't help noting how we long for the longer days and the return - we hope - of the sun.
