Love locks by the Mersey

I was intrigued to see hundreds of padlocks on the chain barriers by the river today. Most of them with names engraved on them... I did a bit of a google and found this (from Wikipedia) which makes them rather sweet:

A love lock or love padlock is a padlock which sweethearts lock to a bridge, fence, gate, or similar public fixture to symbolize their love.Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolise unbreakable love.
