The highlight of my day was meeting Keith Wilkinson. Keith is the owner of Wilkinson Machinery who service our woodworking machines at work. Normally it's one of their engineers that come, but we had the honour of the man himself coming to see us today to sort our dodgy bandsaw. We got a wee tutorial on how to set the guards etc, (they were completely out) and got some decent chat from him.
The business was set up by his great grandfather in 1875. He's still working away at the grand old age of 74 and trained as a naval engineer.
Times, they are a changing. They used to get a lot of business servicing machines for the printworks and the papermills... Now they're going into web-design...
