In the Town Hall gardens Scarborough
There is the Norman Castle Keep in the distance but my eye had been
caught by the delicate fading ribbon tied to a slender branch. The slope
was steep and a fence was to be climbed to collect a few shrivelled brown
leaves nestling under the trunk. It was an oak tree. Not an Ole Oak Tree
but oaks grow slowly and it had certainly been there well over three long
years. The message flowing from it was the stronger for where this ribbon
had been tied - secured well above a very steep bank. We want to believe
it was heard.
