Flag Day

Anything happening in Switzerland is a good excuse to get the flags out. At the moment it's the Swiss Motor Show, so the Mont Blanc bridge is flying the flags of the cantons.

Switzerland is made up of 26 cantons which are member states of the federal state of Switzerland. Each canton used to be a fully sovereign state until the establishment of the Swiss federal state in 1848. But each canton still has its own constitution, legislature, government and courts.
Here you can see the flags of Thurgau, Ticino, Vaud (where we live) and bit of the Valais.
