Podgy collie
Life in the MollyCollie household is never simple?! Ann is getting a bit worried that I’m going to turn into a fat, podgy collie. I have to stay on my lead at the moment (see why here), I’m not getting as much exercise as usual, but for some unknown reason I seem to be permanently hungry??!!
Before I had my operation the vet put me on steroids. I’ve finished those now – but steroids make people put on weight so do you think they do the same to dogs? Actually, I’m not sure why I was on steroids. Ann was so stressed about me that she didn’t digest that bit of information. The vet said I had to have steroids so Ann gave steroids. He said something about the fact that they might make me drink more and I might wee more – but nothing about eating more I don’t think??
Anyway I normally get a small amount of food for my breakfast and then I get my dinner at about 5pm. Sometimes I don’t eat it all. I’m not a greedy little collie. The only time I gobble up my meals really quickly is when there’s other dogs about.
.......................Or when I’ve just been on steroids. Well I have to blame something don’t I?
I’m so hungry these days that I’ve developed a really annoying habit.................................
.....................What I do is........................... When I come back from my afternoon walk I sit right in front of Ann and give her my ‘appealing look’. Ann tries to distract me with my toys or by sending me to my bed for a snooze, but none of that works because all I want is my dinner.
Eventually she gives in and says, ‘OK Molly, you can have early dinner.’ I gobble that up and then I sit right in front of her again until she says, ‘OK Molly, you can have seconds’.
Ann doesn’t want me to be hungry but she’s hoping that now I’ve finished the steroids, life will go back to normal???
..................And by this time next week the stitches in my ear will be out and I’ll be able to have lots of run about time off my lead again. Yay!
