Trewidden Gardens
A dull morning, but the wind has dropped and it was quite mild when we started our walk round Trewidden gardens, near Penzance.
One of our favourite Cornish gardens.
Still privately owned by the Bolitho family, and planted in the mid 19th Century.
A 15 acre garden has a nationally acclaimed collection of Magnolias, Camellias, and Tree Ferns.
The most famous magnolia is the Trewidden Belle. The first magnolia to flower in Cornwall, and today looked magnificent.
The light today was not good for photographs, and half way round it started to rain.
However I have managed to put together a few photos for the collage, which I have posted for today's blip.
It does show some of the beautiful flowers which are in bloom at the moment.
Hope you like it.
They have had 30 trees blown down in the storms. 3 came down last Thursday.
We bought pasties for lunch, and sat in the car to eat them, down at Lamorna Cove.
( still pouring down!) Had a lovely view out to sea. (Had to keep putting the wipers on!)[
The storms which have battered the coast, since Christmas, have now destroyed most of the harbour wall.
I don't think there will be any boats going out fishing from here any more.
Such a shame, as it was a lovely little harbour.
Now off to cook tea.
We bought Tiger prawns, and megrim sole from Newlyn, and as it is Shrove Tuesday it will be pancakes for pudding!! Yummy!
